JSI Health Communications Director Elected President of the SMANA Board of Directors for 2024
Karyn Dudley Madore, M.Ed., CCPH, a seasoned public health and health communication professional at JSI, has recently been elected as the President of the Social Marketing Association of North America (SMANA) Board of Directors. SMANA is a membership organization dedicated to advancing social change and enhancing the effectiveness of social marketing strategies across North America. JSI has been a long-time member of SMANA and Ms. Madore is excited to help shape the organization’s future:

Ms. Madore brings over 25 years of experience in health communications, strategic communications, and behavior change campaigns to her new role. Since joining JSI’s New Hampshire office in 1998, she has led teams to create award-winning campaigns on public health topics ranging from tobacco control to sex trafficking awareness and prevention, and opioid prevention. Ms. Madore has led the development of three statewide opioid campaigns, two in New Hampshire and one in Maine. From 2015 to 2017, she led New Hampshire’s Anyone.Anytime.NH™public awareness campaign to address the state’s opioid crisis; the campaign received an honorable mention in the 2017 NPHIC Berreth Awards for Excellence in Public Health Communication and was featured in the Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health, Facing Addiction in America and resulted in a follow-on campaign, The Doorway. Ms. Madore’s team recently wrapped up an 18-month Maine statewide opioid awareness campaign, OPTIONS: Overdose Prevention Through Intensive Outreach Naloxone and Safety.
She is also a Certified Communicator in Public Health (CCPH) and an Adjunct Professor at Rivier University teaching behavior change and theory. Ms. Madore will continue to lead projects as part of JSI’s Health Communication team.
Ms. Madore is excited to dive into planning for upcoming SMANA events, including the revamped North American Social Marketing Conference, on May 15-18, 2024 in Clearwater, FL where the latest advancements in social marketing, public health, and health communications will be shared. The conference is organized in collaboration with the University of South Florida (USF).
