Partnerships to Improve Community Health Media and Communications

Goal: To increase community awareness of Santa Clara County (California) – United for Health Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH) activities, and initiative aimed at addressing chronic disease and related risk factors.

Overview: For three years, JSI worked with the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department to provide media and communications services for the Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH) initiative, a CDC-funded effort. As the media and communications contractor, JSI planned and implemented communications activities to raise awareness of the initiative and build capacity among the department and its partners.

JSI developed new and adapted existing communications materials across PICH focus areas (access to healthy foods, tobacco prevention, safe and active environments, and chronic disease). These include print materials, outdoor advertising, and digital and social media in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. JSI established relationships with local media outlets and managed media planning and purchasing for social and digital media, television, radio, and print. JSI also developed content for success stories, newsletters, and social media and provided technical assistance trainings to the initiative’s leadership team.
