Vermont Infant Safe Sleep Campaign
Goal: To develop an evidence-based campaign to promote infant safe sleep in Vermont.
Overview: JSI conducted formative research to develop marketing, communications, and public health education materials in order to address the incidence of sudden, unexpected infant death (SUID) by reducing the risk of unintentional infant asphyxiation, and to increase infant safe sleep practices in Vermont. Ensuring safe sleep environments for infants is a key measure for preventing SUID. The campaign combines outreach efforts to new parents via digital ads and animated video. JSI also developed a training for health providers and nurses that provides guidance on how to talk to parents and what would help them practice the guidelines for safe sleep.
Results: The paid campaign garnered 84,958 impressions across digital platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and Google. JSI’s materials and training have been used to implement quality improvement training for Vermont healthcare professionals in major hospitals and birth centers.
