JSI Projects Win in 2024 National Social Marketing Awards
Four of JSI’s projects were honored in the 2024 National Social Marketing Awards from the Social Marketing Association of North America (SMANA). JSI’s health communication campaigns have previously been recognized in the Berreth Awards for Excellence in Public Health Communication, Ragan’s PR Daily, and the Indigo Design Awards, among others.
Tick Free New Hampshire received a Gold in the “Best Public Safety” category. The long-running campaign aims to educate and protect the New Hampshire public about Lyme disease prevention and avoiding a tick encounter. The campaign, its Council, and the Office of the Governor teamed up to proclaim May 2024 Lyme Disease Awareness Month to bring more attention to this issue in NH, which has had some of the highest incidences of Lyme disease in the United States.
The Vaccines are Another Part of Growing Up campaign received a Silver in the “Overall Social Marketing” category. JSI developed the multimedia, multilingual campaign on behalf of the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department (CA) to normalize routine childhood vaccination, raise awareness of the importance of getting children vaccinated on time, and encourage caregivers to catch their children up if they’re behind on recommended or required vaccinations. The campaign previously won several design awards.
Two other campaigns that JSI developed for the State of New Hampshire also took home awards. Dear Me: I’m Ready!, a tobacco cessation campaign, scored a Silver in the “TV/Digital Video Advertising in a Social Marketing Program” category. The campaign features testimonial-style videos based on letters from former or current individuals who smoke or vape across the Granite State that offer reasons to try to quit or stay quit. Last but not least, the NH COVID Travelers’ Awareness Campaign received a Bronze in the “Out-of-home Advertising in a Social Marketing Program” category. The campaign used static transit bus ads as well as an original animated video that ran in the Manchester, NH airport to direct travelers to the state’s official website for detailed information on COVID-19 best practices.
“Our Health Communications team works with clients to develop visually compelling and culturally competent social marketing campaigns that drive real change in public health,” said Karyn Dudley Madore, JSI Health Communications Director and SMANA President. “These awards are a testament to our team’s dedication and the impactful partnerships we have built.”
